Artist's Comments

Feeling depressed and quiet, this somehow grew out of about five hours of messing around in photoshop. Not even remotely what I set out to do, but I guess that's okay because none of my ideas are any good lately anyway.

There's kind of been alot of crap going on lately, which isn't really the reason I haven't been updating but hasn't helped any. The only other thing I've drawn worth mentioning was a bit too rough to put up here, but can be seen at my livejournal

I love those magical swirls! Very Aladdin-ish. :D The serenity of the expression is wonderful, as are the features.. And I love the detail in the fabric of the tunic! I was almost...surprised by it, you could say. It looks a very simple piece, and then little things like that make you go, Whoa! :)

Me: I love you more than anything; more than tea or books.

Husband: Don't exaggerate.

looks like a serenity we all need sometimes. Wonderful job.

he looks amazing.... if it's not a bother, could you tell me how you do the skintones? they are quite realistic, and this is what i'm trying to work on now, is skin.

Did I say that?

I use a bunch of layers; one for the base color, one for monochromatic shading, one for hightlights, and then one to add color variation. I find that it adds alot to vary the color in the skin; making the ckeeks and nose a little redder, and the area under the eyes a bit more green or blue. Of course, reference always helps; even when I'm not drawing from anything specific, I tend to check in a mirror every so often.

Beautiful! The colours are wonderful, and I love the peaceful expression and the sand swirlies.
