To cheer up a friend.

"So how was your Christmas?" Remus asked from the couch as Sirius sauntered into the common room.

"I got to spend loads of wonderful quality time with my family," Sirius said, then dropped down to sit beside Remus. "Yours?"

"A full moon on the snow really makes for such a picturesque Christmas eve," Remus replied. "Chocolate?"

"Why thank you," Sirius said, taking a piece. "You know, I did some thinking while I was locked in my room all month, and I think I've figured out why so much bad stuff happens to decent blokes like us."

"Oh?" Remus asked, breaking off a piece of chocolate for himself.

"Yes. See, in the grand scheme of things, it's like this," Sirius said, gesturing broadly. "You know life?"

"Yeah?" Remus asked.

"It sucks."

Remus whacked him in the ribs.

My personal sun. You balanced out the clouds nicely for me."

The faces are marvelous. They look so natural. God, I'm fragmenting. Wonderful work, as always.
